During the November 12 2025 NDPOST Board meeting, an item on the agenda involved a member of the Fargo Police Department, the agency I currently serve with in a leadership capacity. Although I had no direct involvement in the matter being discussed, my position within the department created a reasonable perception of potential bias or undue influence. To avoid even the appearance of impropriety and to maintain the integrity and impartiality of the Board’s decision making process, I chose to recuse myself from any action related to that agenda item.

Upon reviewing the agenda prior to the meeting, I recognized that the item involving a Fargo Police Department member could present a perceived conflict due to my role within the department. Consistent with ethical best practices and NDPOST Board expectations, I independently evaluated the situation and determined that recusal was the most appropriate course of action to preserve objectivity and public trust. I informed the Board of my decision and took no part in deliberation or voting on the matter
