Bismarck, ND – Ronald Goodman, Acting Chair of the North Dakota Ethics Commission, has announced his intent to step down from the Commission, effective upon the appointment of a replacement.
Goodman stated, “It has been a privilege to contribute to the work we do.” Goodman was one of five initial members of the Ethics Commission appointed in August of 2019. At the inaugural meeting of the Commission, Goodman’s colleagues elected him as the Commission’s first chair. In August 2023, Goodman was reappointed to a four-year term.
Prior to joining the Commission, Goodman served in the U.S. Air Force, worked for a North Dakota human service center, practiced as an attorney, and served as a judge at the county, district, and surrogate levels. He has also been a member of many community and civic organizations. Goodman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. John’s University, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling at UND, and his juris doctor degree from UND.
“Judge Goodman’s servant leadership, wisdom, and commitment to the people of North Dakota helped establish the Commission’s foundation. His influence set a standard of integrity, stewardship, and humility that continues to define the Commission’s work today. The Commission is grateful for his work to further the Commission’s mission for more than six years” said Executive Director Rebecca Binstock.
Appointment for Goodman’s replacement will be made by the Governor, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Minority Leader. Goodman will continue his service on the Commission until an appointment has been made.
